Join Dan Leonard and the NAIOP Upstate Board on April 29 as part of our ever-popular Noon Zoom series. The moderator will interface with members of our local real estate development community with this purposefully diverse line up of vantage points on trends, realities and thought leadership. Rebecca Gandour, Buffalo Urban Development Corporation

Rebecca Gandour is the Executive Vice President for the Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC) focusing on the Northland Corridor Redevelopment Project, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park transformation and corporation finances and governance.  Prior to working with BUDC, Ms. Gandour spent eight years as the City of Buffalo’s Director of Development in the Mayor’s Office of Strategic Planning.  She oversaw the City’s economic development programs and worked closely with Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC), BUDC and Erie County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA).  She helped to negotiate the agreement with Douglas Development that capitalized the Accelerator Fund, a groundbreaking public private partnership. Major projects included the facilitation of AMC theatre opening in Downtown Buffalo, a $10 million private investment, and 201 Ellicott, a $75 million investment that included a fresh food market and 201 affordable housing units.

 

Chris Round, Chazen, a LaBella Company

As Vice-President of Planning of the Chazen, a LaBella Company Mr. Round leads the company’s planning practice that serves both municipal and private markets. Mr. Round has over 30 years’ experience in providing community and land use planning, SEQRA/NEPA expertise, project planning to local and regional governments, institutions, and a wide variety of public and private clients.   During his 17-year tenure with the Chazen Companies, the Planning team has successfully supported municipalities in completing brownfield/economic development plans, bicycle and pedestrian plans, waterfront redevelopment and a wide variety of infrastructure projects.  His team has secured in excess of $50M in funding to support parks, trails, streetscape and infrastructure improvements over the last several years.

Chris Hill, I. Gordon Corporation

Vice President of Rochester-based I. Gordon Corp, Chris will share his expereince working in the Rochester area on projects spanning multifamily, retail and one of the largest high-rise office buildings downtown, The First Federal Building.  The State and City have been working to improve the riverway through a $50MM grant called, Roc the Riverway of which Chris has helped shepherd as the Board Chair of the nonprofit RDDC. The Rochester Downtown Development Corporation, or RDDC, has served as the connection between urban planning and development for decades in Rochester. 

 

The discussion will be moderated by Dan Leonard, Wendel Companies.
